freedom isn't free

let's remember what this day is really about: those who have laid down their lives for you to enjoy the freedom to explore jobs, make investments, say what you feel, and practice what you wish.

Memorial Day was born out of the horrors of the Civil War in the United States of America, when more than 600,000 soldiers - Union and Confederate - fell in battle.

so why are we all excited to get a day off to party? i'm not asking by any means to sit is shiva and mourn all day, but in all your hours of BBQ's, shopping sales, and shotgunning beers, take a moment of two to reflect, maybe say a thank you. this country didn't just appear out of no where with a monarchy making a proclamation of land. Men, women and children all fought and rebelled for what they knew was right.

it seems we focus so much on what is going on right within view like our friends, family, school, etc.. those are very important things and deserve the utmost attention but take a second and think of the "war" that has been on going since 2003. it doesn't affect many of us these days like wars of our past.
Each day a death toll rises, a bomb goes off, and it gets a small blurb on the news behind a celebrity going to rehab full story.
This is the greatest country in the world. Let's start acting like we deserve the respect we demand from so many around the globe. Let's put our priorities back in order and act like leaders of the free world instead of entertainment for the rest.
